Be mindful of what you ingest. The papers you skim, the books you read. The television shows, the news, the algorithm of desperate lives, subtly telling you that you are not enough, that you are not doing enough. Recheck your circle, ask yourself where there is still love, laughter, support, and where there is duty – no longer feeding your soul. Look to your plate, your cup, the once-loved and now-forgotten photos on your walls. Take time this weekend to notice, the world you are feeding, or forgetting to feed, to your soul.
Flow. What’s meant for others is not always meant for you. The paths they take, down worn and trusted roads, will look more appealing than the overgrown and solitary one you are invited to walk. But the clearing will be immense, and many may follow where you have dared to lead.
It is okay to feel sad, to fully experience it. It is part of the human condition. There are times that your heart will ache, beneath its beat of gratitude and love for all. It will ache for a present moment you did not expect, as it hopes for, and believes in, better times. Your sadness must come, must be allowed its space to grieve and mourn and be defeated, so it can turn the pool fit for drowning into the steps that will elevate you higher. It is okay to feel the feeling, to give your body all of…
Stand your ground. Own it. There is merit in fluidity, beauty in being able to flow as the river does, but there is also bravery in being immovable. There are times in life when the best way for you to move forwards, is for you to not move an inch. For you to have no reaction to the words of that person; for you to continue to say no, as family, friends, the world, push you to say yes. For you to say “This is my feeling, my thought, my need today, and I unapologetically support it, as much as if I had…
Before you reach for that new thing, release the old. Let go of the things and the people that you believe are keeping you solid and upright, because you know it’s really fear at the heart of that grip. The things you want to attain are not difficult. What’s difficult is trying to attain them while holding onto what else is in your hands. The marriage you wanted to leave, even as you walked down the aisle, the group of friends unified only by alcohol and a suppressed dissatisfaction with life, the job that lowers the standards you vowed to uphold as…
Even though you’ve been taught one way to: think, behave, feel, or respond, don’t be afraid to rewrite the rules. If the thought of change enters your head, it means you’re supposed to at least explore the possibility. It’s a subtle calling. History is made by those who step out of line. And even if you think you’re not trying to change history, it will still happen. It will change for the you of the future, your lineage, your body, your community. Here is your permission, to take what you have been given: the strategies, the techniques, the job,…
Trust yourself and the standards you have set. There are going to be times, more of them, when all around you is a flutter, stormy, battered by waves. Set your bar firmly, and move only when it is not met. Their destiny is not your own, their feelings and reasons, are not your own. If your goal, is to be swayed by the crowd, part of both some named and unnameable fear, then by all means kneel at the feet of the collective. If, on the other hand, sovereignty is your goal, and you desire a truth discernible through the…
Do not forget why you are here. Amidst the roles you must play and the tasks you must perform, do not forget that fire within you, and what makes it burn brighter. Even in the moments, when consumed by disappointment, confusion, or missing motivation, do not forget why you are here. It will be enough, to help fight the temporary state in which you find yourself. And if you do not know why you are here, value your life enough to find out.
Delegate your need to be accepted. Throw it out the door, to be received by someone who is good at catching and loving the things you no longer require. Give away your need to do and say the right thing, and let it be nurtured by another who, is in love with the ego and all efforts required to maintain it. Make space, and lift the weight of what is expected from you – that thing that is expected before you have even decided what is right for you. Focus on what is in front of you, discard everything behind…
Dragonflies appeared in my meditation this month, a symbol of transformation. The message is that transformation is available at every turn, every juncture in your life. If you spend your days waiting for tiny gifts, small mercies or offerings to appease a doubtful or broken soul, nothing bigger will fit onto the stage you have set. Don’t look to change, look to transform. Don’t look to grow, look to break through. Don’t look to survive, look to live. To live in the most glorious and unimaginable way possible. Because you have probably imagined it, at least once in your life.
One thing this month. One thing. If there is one thing you must do, failing all else and without negotiation or exception, what is it? What is it you choose to improve, to fix, clear, make or be? One thing. What requires your commitment through beginning, middle and end – requires embedding or finessing? Don’t play small. Don’t pick something that will slightly improve your life. Play big. Big change is born from subtle moves, too. It’s day one. Decide. Tell a single person. Tell me. Follow through.
This month’s oracle reading has animals all over it. Birds, snakes, deer, wolves, you name it. In the midst of all the death nature displays at this time of year, is the communication between the animals that are dreaming and the ones that are awake; the ones that are alive and the ones that are being re-birthed and transformed. In the same way that we dream to commune with parts of ourselves, our departed ones, our alternative timelines, the animals too talk. Those that have chosen to rest, to hibernate, to stay out of sight – they are communing with…
The message this month may seem short and somewhat sharp, for those of you who aren’t familiar with my spirit guides. I’ll leave out the swear words, but essentially, it’s ‘don’t **** around next year, do the things that you have to do to make the best of your life‘. Don’t go slow, don’t hedge your bets – just connect to your higher purpose, what you want, and then go for it. If people are going to get hurt, it’s likely it would have happened at some point anyway – choose whether you want to sacrifice your happiness and your…
The ancestral veneration that began in October is not yet finished. Regardless of your spiritual beliefs or practices, this is a call to be mindful of the calendars you adhere to and the schedules you keep. Pay attention particularly to those that are based on the creation of another mind, another soul’s intention. What does your own heart say? What do you feel you would like to do, with any moment, in any phase of your life? As with the 9-5 job, or the allocated public holidays, there is a constant relinquishing of personal choice, the giving over of autonomy…
Pay attention to the signs this month and be open to what they may mean. Ask friends, explore the internet, spend time gathering answers to what you might usually ignore. It’s easy, to fall into the arms of coincidence when you don’t understand the synchronicities occurring in your life – for your life. It’s easy to replace spiritual investigation with cerebral logic ‘it’s just the fifth image of a snake I’ve seen today, it’s just the third time an old friend has called me this week…’ but try to be more accommodating to the symbols and universal whispers around…
Peace and radiance are about more than sunshine and breezy, balmy days. The peace you want is inside you and sometimes you have to be cracked open to find it. Everything you have been through, everything you have suffered, is currency for either more pain or growth. Choose. Peace is available to you, don’t turn your back on it because the road looks too hard.
